I thought I'd stick up an avatar, but it won't let me. I can't get an image file down below 14kb... it's sort of impossible these days unless your image is a single block of colour. Is there any way of increasing the allowable file size - or would that require a costly upgrade?

You guessed right, I think.

I've tried upping the pixel count to 200x200 (40kb) and it cracked up...so I'm trying 150x150.

If worst comes to worst, we still get an avatar allowance of 120x120 pixels (14.4kb), and if you choose an image without too much detail, it still turns out noice.

Hopefully this little experiment takes off and we can afford to pay for proper hosting.
