Hi.

Who are you? What classes are you taking? What do you prefer to write? Five favourite authors?

Hello!

I'm Anna, a fifth year Arts/Law student, majoring in International Relations / Literary Studies. I quite despise the Law as a rule and have wistfully wished for many a year that I could be studying Creative Writing, but alas that was not allowed when I enrolled at Deakin, much to my horror.

I've generally enjoyed Literature, espcially the creative tasks, and over the last six months or so I have been writing more and more for my own enjoyment, some short stories, character descriptions, just lots of scribble really. I do enjoy writing on the train in little notebooks, mainly for the aura of intrigue, haha. I

Is the Creative Writing Course at Deakin rewarding? Do you find you've learnt much to assist your writing? I'm really keen to do something to help me move forward, but not sure if I can commit to another three years after five years slaving away already...

And kudos for setting up the society :) Are there meetings?

Hi Mina,

That's quite a mix of streams you've got going on there! I'm a Lit minor, and I have to say I think it's one thing Deakin does really well.

We're actually having a meeting/ open mic session next Monday (9th June - see the "meetings and events" thread above this one) at the Tom Thumb Bar on Warrigal Rd, 6pm. I'm going to send a reminder invitation out to everyone this week, so if you shoot an email off to:

deakin.describe@gmail.com

we'll add you to our mailing list and you can come and meet some of us.

Cheers,
Rhys

ps the board is comatose right now...expect some answers to your questions as soon as people recover from exams/ the assignment rush.
