Hi names Rhiannon, first year Film and Digital media student. I am 18, just out of high school and just crusing around in the big bad world that is adulthood.

I have been writing poetry and stories since I was young and I have been published in a couple of things which is pretty funky.

My brain always seems to be like a washing machine spinning around with idea after idea.

SO if you see a short little person with short brown hair and green eyes walking around like a loon - thats me. Say hi I won't bite...

much :)

My introduction of myself

Postby tatterdemalion on Wed Mar 05, 2008 11:13 am

This is an introduction to me, and it begins now. The next thing I'm going to say is my introduction. Ahem.

My name is Miriam. I am in third year. I study Writing and Film, and due to the compulsory online unit requirement that I've been putting off throughout my course, I'm also studying Literature, a bit. I've also dabbled in Philosophy, Gender Studies and Media and Communications. I'm growing increasingly concerned because I still don't know which direction to run when they set me free from tertiary education, and I suspect it may just be right back in again.

If you have a look in the Opportunities board - http://describe.freeforums.org/post-your-opportunities-here-f7.html - Marmalade has posted a writing competition called The Flasher which is running now. I'm running it. Do check out the website (theflasher.wordpress.com) and do think about entering. A'll be ever so heppy*.

*My attempt at phoneticising the 1950s movie heroine accent. Say it aloud. It works!

Hi Kids, how are we all doing today? My name is Paris and I'm a brand spanking new first year. So give me a break if I sound ignorant to the whole uni situation! I'm studying a bachelor of arts in Professional and Creative Writing, so writings pretty much where I'm at at the moment! love the idea of DeScribe and am all about promoting it to others and creating a real homely chatty vibe. With lots of feedback ideas etc. I welcome any feedback on items that I post up here, no reading is an incorrect reading (perhaps just misguided!! HEHE)
I guess I'll leave it there for now.

I'm Christine, the (slightly less involved) other half of The Flasher Team. Second year BA student at Monash, majoring in Politics and Journalism (yes, I know I don't belong here.)

I've been 'cruising' through adulthood for going on three years now and I don't intend to speed up. My creative flame (lame) has been doused these past few years as I focus on absorbing useless academic content to pass my degree. Creativity, it turns out, is not my guiding light, so I've reserved its function for hobby-time. And since I'm too lazy for hobbies.

I'm a writer. IN SPIRIT.

That being said, I'll be published one day. I'm one of the unfortunate souls who has too many ideas but not enough enthusiasm/time/faith to do anything with them. I understand others have the opposite dilemma (not enough ideas, too much enthusiasm - and isn't it disastrous?)

In the mean time, I absorb as much fiction and non-fiction as my sore head allows. I've become a fan of science fiction and speculative fiction in recent times, though quality speculative fiction is hard to come by.

And that's enough about me for now.

Christine.

You absolutely belong here. You run (half) of a writing competition, funded out of the awesomeness of your own heart, and if there were more people like you in the world, well, there'd be a few more writers with sweet pink typewriters that they'd won through the power of their own fingers*.

Look forward to more posts.

Rhys

* Or toes. Let's not exclude people who, for whatever reason, can type with their toes.
