Goddamn football

Postby Marmalade on Sat Mar 22, 2008 4:38 pm

So I talk up Carlton all off-season (mostly to myself in a kind of weird inner monologue) and what do I get for actually going on Thursday night?

Thirty minutes of false hope and two-and-a-half quarters of go f**k yourself, Mr Supporter. I'm feeling so emo about this I almost used my first internet emoticon ever.

Feel free to take the piss out of me below.

I was glad to see Carlton lose. It seemed many thought Chris Judd's inclusion was going to miraculously turn the team around. Also, as a Cat's fan who will never forget the 1995 Grand Final, bad luck - ha!

Still, as a Cats fan who waited patiently for a good side to emerge and win a premiership (I sometimes doubted if I would live to see a Geelong Grand Final win), I hope the blues get better and don't prolong their stint in AFL's basement.

Oh, you're the OTHER Carlton supporter are you?

Hey, we won last week. Swiftly made redundant by our inspiring loss this week. Give it another eight years and we'll be right back up there, losing another Grand Final.

Wow, I'm becoming so bitter...
Joy!

Nah, I'm back on board now. Two wins from six games (three honourable losses and only one real thumping from St Kilda) is almost like overperforming. I can barely remember those halcyon days from 2000-01 when I actually went to the footy expecting to win...

I just expected Richmond and Essendon to be 2008's basket-case teams, so was a little gutted to be beaten by both (especially the Tigers). Must say it was a privilege to be at the Bombers' game - when both teams kick over twenty goals, the football's so good it nearly doesn't matter who wins.
