DeScribe's first field trip for '09

So you want to know a little more about the Melbourne writing scene?

Come along and see one of Melbourne's top spoken word performers, Josephine Rowe. Whatever you might think of poetry, this is not just poetry. This is emotion and story boiled down to an essence and unleashed.

Josephine began writing in 2004. Since then, she has published East Of Here, Close To Water, a collection of short stories, and Asynchrony, a collection of poetry. She has been featured in numerous journals as well as Black Inc's Best Australian Poems in 2005 and 2006. She is a seriously talented performer.

Josephine will be reading at the Spinning Room this Tuesday at 8.30pm. Head to ET's (211 High St. Prahran), and take the stairs at the back of the main bar. The Facebook details for this event are:

Take the 75 tram from Deakin to Church St and then the 78 or 79 south along Church/ Chapel to High St and then turn left - ET's is about 100 metres from the corner of High & Chapel.

Kieron and I will be there, so just walk around looking lost and we'll be sure to say hello and help you settle in. Best of all, this event is free. Nada, nothin', zilcho, diddly-squat - the perfect student price.

I'm replying to myself here. That's troubling.

Just thought you should all know that we won cake in the Spinning Room raffle (yep, they have a weekly raffle). It was chocolate mudcake with fudge icing and it was scrum-diddly-umptious. Also, two slices at one in the morning was one slice too many, but I ate it anyway because that's the sort of bloke I am.
